Aims.
The aims of my client brief is to create a body of work that will be exhibited in 1-2 venues. This will be alongside two other photographers work so to create a theme to the exhibition as well as helping each other along the way. One of the exhibitions will be a evening event in a bar and the other will be a day event that will be for the public to view on a casual basis. Alongside this I will invite local media and attempt to contact magazines that are influential to my work, this will be The Gentle Woman and Super Super Magazine. I will contact these forms of media by telephone, email and post.
This will hopefully gain exposure for my work and the exhibition.
The piece of work I aim to achieve will play homage to Andy Warhol’s screen tests and photography style. I aim to hire a film student to film the screen tests and I will assist. I myself will photograph 10 models both female and male. All of this will be done in the studio.
Within the exhibition space I will create a living room aesthetic to display my work.
For promotion there will be flyers, posters and invitations created as well as using face book, a blog and creating a free website. This will be under the group brand name which will be called “ Crowd “.
The relevance of this project is the aim to sell myself as a photographer who doesn’t want to be mainstream with regards to fashion photography. I will have all the people I contact or use to help this project listed in a address book.
Procedures.
To gain the locations myself and the other 2 photographers will scout bars/pubs in the Preston area. This will be based on space, both floor and wall and how much it will cost to hire. We will also scout unused shops and contact the owners or estate agents to see if we can use these spaces. All of these places and the people we contact will be listed in the contacts book. Also all the venues will be photographed inside and out and these images will be posted on a blog. The blog will be created for all three photographers to access and post our joint findings but also individual posts regarding our work and development throughout.
Through an internet search media contacts will be acquired and contacted this will be once we have a date and venues. This will be initially done by email with a follow up telephone call the next day. I myself will be contacting relevant magazines, though I intend to do this once my body of work is complete. I will email and post examples of the piece and then follow up by telephoning the editors who will be from the magazines The Gentle woman and Super Super.
The body of work I will undertake will use both digital and film cameras in a studio location. I will also have a video camera that will be operated by a film student. This shoot will have 10 models attending in assigned slots. A group on face book will created for this shoot so that we all remain in contact. Out of the 10 models some will be known and others scouted by myself. As well as the face book site for my shoot, there will be another for the group for the exhibition. This will create a guest list.
For the venue I intend to purchase props so that I can create a living room scene I will go to charity shops and car boots to acquire this as I would like a kitsch/retro feel to my piece. I will need a television also so that the film footage can be played on a loop, I will seek advice from the film student with regards to my best options.
For promotion before the exhibition we as a group will design flyers, posters and invitations which will have our brand name on. The flyer will be placed in university buildings, shops and handed out on the day of the exhibition. Posters will also be put up when we have a dates and venues. The invitations will be made and posted to university departments and the contacts that we will have built up over the duration of the brief.
Throughout this project we as a group will have meetings and research how to put this exhibition together these will be held in study group rooms in the library. From this we will assign deadlines for each process that we undertake as a group and as individuals. Our time management and tasks undertaken will be mapped out on our blog, which will be the equivalent of a workbook. Also the exhibition blog and face book page will be updated when needed.
