Proposal

Client brief proposal.

For this client brief I wish to further my photographic skills both professionally and technically. I aim to improve my professionalism by firstly building up my own personal contacts and displaying my work an exhibition, to which I shall in invite several of my personal contacts. This I feel is a very important factor to my work, because up until now my work has only ever been exhibited at shows that have been organised by the university. This has given me a good insight into such practice, but has only skimmed the surface as far as I am concerned. So I now have to research into where and when to display my work, where would be suitable. Also I have to take many factors into consideration; like how to display my work, how to use the space available to me, what to provide for my visitors etc. So this brief needs me to further my independence and place myself away from the help of university, so that I can develop into a photographer and learn about all the other aspects that may at times get overlooked whilst studying at university and develop my own personal social skills, so that I can in essence sell myself and my work so that I can get what I want in the outside world.

But to make this learning experience a more pleasurable one, I am going to collaborate with two other students. Despite this collaboration my learning curve is still going to be personal and will allow me to become more independent, as I am simply going to display my work at the same venue as the two other students. So the whole process of finding a suitable location and promoting the exhibition etc still remains the same, just in conjunction with other people. A good thing about this is the fact that with a total of three people displaying their work. Which gives us a higher number of people to invite and so potentially allow more people to view my work.

In regards to my technical aspects, I aim to produce four large photographic prints, which I shall make by hand in the darkroom of images that employ the tilt and shift technique.
